6. Apply to be an ASAP facilitator
Acquaintance Sexual Assault Prevention (ASAP) is now accepting applications for students interested in facilitating workshops during Orientation Week 2009 (August 24–30).
Recognizing that sexual assault can happen on campus is the first step to increasing overall awareness and fostering a safer environment. In the past few years, the Swarthmore community has worked to raise awareness of issues of sexual violence, with initiatives including the Clothesline Project, the Handprint Project, the SMART Team, and ASAP. The ASAP program plays a crucial role in the development of new students’ attitudes towards sexual assault and increasing awareness.
ASAP workshops are held at the end of the orientation period (Aug. 28–30) and are designed to introduce new students to the issue of sexual assault, prevention tips, and the resources available at Swarthmore for sexual assault prevention. The workshops aim to create an awareness of acquaintance sexual assault and provide a comfortable atmosphere for dialogue about sexual consent.
If you are interested in facilitating and will be returning to campus for the fall semester, please apply with the application below! No experience in facilitation, sexual assault prevention, or health education is necessary. Facilitators work in pairs and arrive the day before the new students for training beginning August 24, 2009. All are encouraged to apply, including RAs, CAs, athletes, and other workshop/orientation participants. We will work with the OC to avoid scheduling conflicts.
Anne Miller ’10 [amiller2] or Will Hopkins ’11 [whopkin1] with any questions.
Acquaintance Sexual Assault Prevention Facilitator Application: Fall 2009 Application Deadline: Friday May 1, 2009

Name/Year: _____________________________________________ Email Address(es): _____________________________________ Summer Address: ________________________________________ Summer Telephone Number: _______________________________
1. Have you previously facilitated ASAP, or do you have other applicable experience?
2. What do you best remember about your ASAP experience?
3. Was there any aspect of the ASAP program you believe failed, and if so, why? How would you change it?
4. Which personal qualities or experiences will enable you to competently facilitate an ASAP workshop?
5. For Fall 2008, will you be a CA or an RA, be back early to play a varsity sport, or be back early for any other reason? (This does not preclude your participation as a facilitator).
6. Can you return to campus on August 24, 2009? If not, when is the earliest time you can return? Please provide us two Swarthmore student references with email and extension (one male, one female): 1. ____________________email:____________ext.:____________ 2. ____________________email:____________ext.:____________ Thank you for applying!
