2. Be a Part of a Fun Fun'd Student Video Project!
Interested in capturing our college days on film (to one day show your grandkids)? Simply want an opportunity to practice video filming and/or editing skills? Like PIZZA?
Well then help the Senior Class make our very own movie! Yup. That’s right. Thanks to SBC‘s Fun Fun’d, we are starting production on Swarthmore ReScripted, a short film about us and modeled after our favorite Admissions’ video, Swarthmore Unscripted!
But we need help from everyone to make this possible: video editors, camera crew, musicians/composers, special effects editors and creative directors!
So if you have tons of free time or just a few hours – we have the perfect job for you! No experience required!
Come learn more and eat some PIZZA at the interest meeting – Tuesday, Feb. 24th at 9:15 in Kohlberg 115.

6. Looking for Faculty/Staff Interested in Discussions with Students
Swarthmore Amnesty International is looking for Faculty and Staff that would be interested in participating in conversations with students during our Human Rights Week the first week in April. The topics are:

Guantanamo Bay closing
LGBTQ issues and gay marriage

9. Altman Summer Grant Competition for Juniors
The Jonathan Leigh Altman Summer Grant is awarded each year by the Department of Art to a junior who has a strong potential and interest in studio arts. This year’s grant will support the purposeful work in studio arts during the summer of 2009.
A major in studio art is not required.
Candidates may apply for a $3000 award and are evaluated by an outside Juror on the basis of achievement, promise, and specific plans for studio arts work during the summer.

Applications/ portfolios are due noon Friday, March 27, 2009.

10. Cavani String Quartet - Lang Concert Hall , Friday, February 20, 2009, 8pm
The Cavani String Quartet will celebrate their 25th anniversary with an exciting residency, combining a masterclass, presentations and a concert featuring Beethoven’s powerful quartet in a minor, Op. 132 and the quartet in f minor, Op. 95, along with the Philadelphia premiere of Geoffrey Peterson’s Seasons. As quartet-in-residence at the renowned Cleveland Institute of Music since 1988, and winner of numerous accolades, including the prestigious Naumburg Award, the Cavani Quartet has been described by the Washington Post as “completely engrossing, powerful and elegant.” Hailed as dynamic and inspirational teachers as well as performers, the Cavani String Quartet succeeds like few others in communicating the sheer joy of music making.

11. Fan bus - M/W Basketball vs Haverford College
There will be a fan bus to Haverford College on Saturday, February 21st, departing the fieldhouse at 12:30PM for the 1PM women’s basketball game, and departing 2:30PM for the 3PM men’s basketball game.
The fan bus will return to campus immediately following each game.

Thursday, 10–10:45 – Come see a documentary about the Iron Ladies, a team that consisted of mostly transgendered players that wins its way into a volleyball competition.

The Women’s Resource Center has Open Hours every week, from 3–5 on Sunday, and from 7pm – midnight on Monday-Thursday. Here’s what we’ve got for you so far:
Monday, 10–10:45: Screening of “Sa-I-Gu,” a documentary about the 1992 LA riots, from the perspective of Korean women.
Tuesday, 7–9:30: Screening of “Louise Bourgeois: the Spider, the Mistress and the Tangerine,” a documentary about the life and work of a contemporary female artist.
9:30-midnight: Open Soup and Study Hours
11-midnight: HIGH MOUNTAIN DOLOR will be hosting a campus-wide open folk learning and jam session.

15. CALL FOR EDITORS – SWARTHMORE LITERARY REVIEW
Are you interested in working for the Swarthmore Literary Review this semester? We publish poets both from on campus and from the greater international writing community. We would love for you to help us make selections, host readings, and expand our magazine.
All interested students should write no more than 300 words answering the following question: Why do I want to be an editor? Make sure to include your poetic influences and academic interests. It also helps to send a resume.
Applications are due 11:59 pm. Wednesday, February 25 to literaryreview@swarthmore.edu. Questions are more than welcome.
The Swarthmore Literary Review seeks to create a student directed venue for the work of talented Swarthmore and at-large writers. In doing so, the editors hope to foster an exchange between Swarthmore College and the greater international writing community.
