Saturdays of Service is starting up again this Saturday, October 3rd from 10am to 1pm. We will be helping Chester Eastside Ministries (a very active Presbyterian Church in Chester) with a cleanup. They need renovations to their facility and have asked us to help out. Learn more about volunteer opportunities on campus and get to know the community beyond Swarthmore. Breakfast provided.

2. 2008-2009 Yearbooks have arrived!

Here’s a solution: Come get a free yearbook! The 2008–2009 academic year Yearbooks have arrived! Halcyon will be setting up shop in Shane Lounge Wednesday through Friday from 12:00–1:30, so come get your FREE copy. The Halcyon is FREE to all students, and freshmen (class of 2013) are also welcome to a free copy if they wish. We know you’ll want one once you see them!

3. Propose a Speaking Event to FFS!
Want to bring a speaker or spoken-word artist to campus but don’t know where to get funding?
Submit a proposal to Forum for Free Speech (FFS)! FFS is the committee that provides honorarium funding for students who want to hold all types of speaking and spoken word events.

4. Power Shift Pennsylvania Info Meeting
Power Shift PA is a youth climate conference for those interested in learning about, connecting with, or strengthening their role in the environmental justice movement. There will be speakers and workshops around issues of food sustainability and green jobs to direct action training and renewable energy.
The conference will take place October 24–25 at Penn State.
This exciting event will be fun and free! Earthlust is funding the cost of registration, transportation, and food. Participating students will be camping near the conference on the 24th.
If you would like more information on this event please come to the info session on Friday, October 2nd at 5:45 in Kohlberg Coffee Bar.
