Kelly sees art as a way to reconciliation, and believes that reconciliation is necessary for peace in Northern Ireland.
“Our work is not just about challenging the status quo or the government. It’s also about challenging our own people. My people are not just victims of suffering; they also give out a lot of it,” Kelly said.

Nobel Laureate John Mather '68 Tells the Story of the Universe

John Mather, a Swarthmore alumnus and Noble laureate, gave the McCabe lecture for this year. He told "the story of the whole universe, from the Big Bang to far in the future. Unfortunately," he quipped, "I can’t tell you every detail of this story."
