Philadelphia musician Gina Ferrerra will be playing her gyil on Parrish beach Tuesday at 5pm. The gyil is a beautiful West African xylophone, the ancestor of the western marimba. Traditional pieces combine complex polyrhythms and melodies that celebrate every stage of life. Come hear Gina play and sing, and you’ll have the opportunity to sign up for informal classes this semester!
