HAN, the Korean culture group, requested $130.00 in funding for their Lunar New Year celebration. The funding will be used to purchase broth ($50.00), rice cakes ($45.00), eggs ($15.00), and utensils ($20.00). There was a short discussion on the proposed cost of utensils. Full funding was proposed and passed unanimously.
The SGO representative listed the newly chartered organizations from the past semester. These organizations include: AMENA (Arab/Middle Eastern/North African)—a cultural group that will replace PACS (Pan-Arab Cultural Society), Roosevelt @ Swarthmore, Swarthmore Bird Club, MULTI—a cultural group for multiracial students, Swarthmore eSports Association, and Quest Scholars (QuestBridge). The organizations whose charters are pending include HAPA—a cultural group for those who identify as part-Asian—and WoCKA (Women of Color Kick Ass).
The newly chartered organizations will be able to apply for funding from the Student Budget Committee. The cultural groups will also be able to receive funding from the Intercultural Center. In addition, WoCKA is supported by the Women’s Resource Center.
