WSRN followed up on their original request for funding from October 4, 2015; the organization did in fact purchase a new microphone in the spring. However, WSRN requested $262.94 to replace another damaged microphone ($179.99) and to purchase three microphone clips at $13.99 each ($41.97), a new turntable needle ($31.99), and 1/4” adapters ($8.99). Full funding was proposed. Two Committee members abstained from voting; as a result, there were not enough Committee members present to meet quorum. The absent Committee members were contacted for an online vote and full funding passed unanimously.
i20, the international student’s organization, requested a total of $209.68 to fund a Big Sib/Little Sib mini-golf trip for fifty students. The proposed funds would be used to hire a van driver ($27.63 for three hours) and to pay for fuel ($17.05) and the mini golf entrance fee ($165.00). The Student Budget Committee does not normally hire van drivers on behalf of student organizations; i20 is an exception because it is difficult for its members to become van-certified. The Committee voted unanimously in favor of a proposal for funding, minus adjustments for the cost of fuel.
Model UN requested a transfer from its fund for services ($1260.00) into its funds for registration fees ($245.00) and transportation ($1015.00). The organization plans to attend a three-day UPenn Model UN conference via SEPTA. The Committee voted unanimously to transfer the requested $245.00 into Model UN’s budget for registration fees. Because the Student Budget Committee does not fund transportation by SEPTA, however, the Committee voted to table discussion on the second transfer.
The Club Squash team requested $580.00 to pay for transportation to a tournament in Chicago. The team calculated the total transportation costs at $700.00 and said it would meet the difference through fundraising. The Student Budget Committee voted to transfer $225.40 from funding for a different conference that the team did not attend toward the transportation costs of attending this conference. $354.60 in additional funding was proposed and passed unanimously.
Society of Physics Students (SPS)
The Society of Physics Students requested $84.44 in funding for a group event. The organization is planning to launch rockets and needed $12.00 for cat litter, $5.97 for potassium nitrate, $20.00 for ten PVC pipes, $3.00 for sugar, $9.70 for rocket body tubes, $9.79 for wicks, $6.99 for goggles, and $16.99 for balsa wood. Full funding was proposed and passed unanimously.
Swarthmore Martial Arts Club (SMAC)
The Swarthmore Martial Arts Club requested $19.40 to purchase group supplies (fifteen mouth guards for sparring). Their request was amended to funding for “individual supplies.” Full funding was proposed and passed unanimously.
