Some of you Swatties may have been wondering why Paces delivery has stopped delivering. According to Paces Director Michele Martinez Gugerli ’14, the delivery system was too complex a process for Paces’ resources and too large a burden on Paces staff.
“With the cost of the labor and materials involved, in addition to the fact that there wasn’t actually as much demand as we might have expected, we were not making any real money off of delivery… and especially not enough money to justify the cost and effort we were putting in.” said Gugerli in an email to the Gazette.
Additionally, the winter months were too cold and icy for Paces deliverers to bike safely to the buildings they were delivering to. Rain and snow both prevented delivery during times when demand for Paces delivery was highest, as people were reluctant to venture out into the ugly weather.
But never fear, Paces still does pick-up orders for the late-night McCabe dweller hungering for their late-night coffee and crepes. Just call ahead of time and swing by as you’re taking a break between stat homework and psych readings.
“Paces is so central on campus and we really do want to make it accessible to everyone – even those who don’t want to eat it in Paces itself.” Gugerli said.
Now that the weather is getting warmer we can all get some exercise and make the trek down from the Science Center or Mertz, especially if the journey ends in delicious Paces food. Could you ask for better motivation?
