Synopsis: Public Safety responded to Clothier Hall for the report of an injured staff member. The staff member declined medical treatment. A Workplace Injury Report was filed.

Safety Hazard

Date: Tuesday, March 18
Time: 11:06 a.m.-1:15 p.m.
Location: DuPont Lot
Synopsis: Public Safety and Ground responded to the Water Tower Lot for the report of a safety hazard. Melting of snow and ice on the Water Tower is causing a dangerous condition for the vehicles parked underneath. Faculty and staff were notified via email to move their cars and barricades were put in placed.

Noise Complaint/Safety Hazard/Fire Hazard

Location: Worth Residence Hall
Synopsis: Public Safety responded to a noise complaint within Worth Residence Hall. Upon arrival, various items were stacked in front of the exit door, presenting a potential fire and safety hazard. Workbox was notified. Public Safety proceeded to check the area regarding the noise complaint with negative results.

Location: Beardsley Hall
Synopsis: Public Safety responded to Beardsley Hall for a panic button alert. Upon arrival, it was determined that an ITS staff member was testing the system and forgot to notify Public Safety.

Synopsis: Public Safety received a report from a faculty member that a student may have been sexually assaulted over the spring break. No further information was provided. Matter is under investigation.

Location: Heat Plant
Synopsis: Public Safety responded to the Heat Plant for the report of an accident involving two college vehicles. There were no injuries.

Synopsis: Public Safety and Ground responded to David Kemp Residence Hall for the report of damage on the roof. WorkBox was notified.

Synopsis: Public Safety responded to Wharton Residence Hall for the report of a strong odor.

Synopsis: Public Safety responded to the Science Center for the report of a staff member in need of medical attention. The staff member was transported to the hospital. A Workplace Injury Report was completed.

Fire Alarm

Time: 5:22 p.m.
Location: Mertz Residence Hall
Synopsis: Public Safety responded to a fire alarm within Mertz Residence Hall. Upon arrival, Public Safety discovered smoke in the kitchen and cleared the area of smoke. There was no sign of fire. It was determined that the alarm was activated due to burnt food.

Synopsis: Public Safety responded to David Kemp Residence Hall for the report of someone yelling in the area. Upon arrival, Public Safety found several Swarthmore resident students on the balcony of Alice Paul Residence Hall calling to people walking on the nearby pathways.

Synopsis: Public Safety responded to the Science Center for the report of a large mess and trash left in the area following an event. Upon arrival, most of the mess had already been cleaned up. Student Activities Coordinator was notified.

Intoxication

Date: Sunday, March 23
Time: 12:29 a.m.
Location: Phi Psi Fraternity House
Synopsis: Public Safety responded to Phi Psi Fraternity House for the report of an uncooperative individual. Upon arrival, the individual was identified as a Swarthmore resident student who was intoxicated. Upon evaluation, Swarthmore Ambulance was dispatched and transported the student to the hospital. The matter is being referred to the Dean’s Office.

Synopsis: Public Safety responded to a fire alarm within Worth Residence Hall. Upon arrival, it was determined that the alarm was activated due to a student lighting candles inside her dorm room.
