Synopsis: A male resident student reported a series of harassing incidents by a known female resident student. This matter is under investigation.

Fire Alarm

Date: Monday, May 13
Time: 3:24 p.m.
Location: Science Center
Synopsis: Public Safety and Maintenance responded to a fire alarm within Dupont Science Center. There was no sign of smoke or fire. The detector was replaced.
Status: Cleared

Location: Benjamin West House
Synopsis: A male resident student reported harassing allegations by a known female resident student. Matter under investigation.

Medical EmergencyDate: Wednesday, May 15
Time: 10:36 a.m.
Location: Sharples Dining Hall
Synopsis: Public Safety responded to Sharples Dining Hall for the report of a sick individual. Upon evaluation, an ambulance was called and transported the individual to the hospital.
Status: Cleared 


InvestigationDate: Saturday, September 1, 2012-Wednesday, May 15-2013
Location: Clothier Hall
Synopsis: A Dining Services Manager reported to Public Safety that several instances of urination and at least one instance of defecation by persons unknown were found by employees of the Snack Bar during several Pub Nights [sic] held in Paces Lounge during the current academic year. The Matter is under investigation.

Synopsis: Public Safety responded to an EVS staff member’s report of an unknown male asleep in Wharton lounge area. Officers discovered a male asleep in the lounge. Subject stated he is an alumnus and guest of a current student. Officers verified the information with the student.

Synopsis: Public Safety reported a safety hazard at the Fieldhouse Upper Lot where the pavement is uneven.

Location: College Ave between Cedar and Chester Roads
Synopsis: Public Safety observed an individual with an injury at College Avenue. Swarthmore Ambulance and Police Department responded. Upon evaluation, individual was taken to Worth Health Center. Officers cleared.

Theft/BicyclesDate: Monday, April 15-Thursday, May 16
Location: David Kemp Residence Hall
Synopsis: Student reported his bicycle missing from David Kemp Hall bicycle rack and came to complete a statement. Description of his bicycle matched that of a bicycle turned in to Public Safety by the Grounds Department earlier this month. Public Safety brought the student to Pittenger Storage, where the student identified the bicycle as his. Student left with his bicycle and the officer was clear.

Synopsis: Public Safety observed students having an unauthorized bonfire in Crum Meadow. Students were identified and left without incident.

Synopsis: Public Safety responded to the report of students on the roof of David Kemp Residence Hall. Students were gone but there was evidence of an unauthorized fire and drinking. Matter under investigation.

Location: Science Center
Synopsis: A Swarthmore employee reported to Public Safety that three silverware trays are missing. Value unknown at this time. Matter under investigation.

Location: Cedar Lane
Synopsis: A Grounds employee reported that a wooden bench was uprooted and moved to another location, but was not damaged. The bench was carried back to its original position.

Synopsis: Public Safety received a report from a Swarthmore staff member that their vehicle tire was flattened under suspsicious circumstances. Matter under investigation.

Location: Lamb Miller Fieldhouse
Synopsis: The Communications Center received a report for assistance from Fieldhouse Security at the Lamb Miller Fieldhouse for disorderly persons. Public Safety and Swarthmore Police Department responded. The individuals left campus in a vehicle.

Location: Parrish Hall
Synopsis: The Communications Center received a report from a resident student that she thinks a person or persons attempted to gain entrance to her room last night (early morning). No one entered the room. Matter under investigation.

Robbery/Strong Arm, Hands, Fist, FeetDate: Friday, May 17
Time: 10:15 p.m.
Location: Old Tarble
Synopsis: A resident student reported to Public Safety that he was just assaulted on campus in the area of the walkway between Mertz and Old Tarble. The assault was committed by two males. Both males were last seen running towards the area of the SEPTA train station. Student was injured and transported to the hospital. Swarthmore Police Department was notified and responded to campus. A Campus Alert was sent. Matter under investigation.

Location: Mertz Residence Hall
Synopsis: The Communications Center received a fire alarm from within Mertz Residence Hall. Public Safety responded. Students evacuated the building. The cause of the alarm was burnt food. There was smoke but no fire. Alarm was reset and students returned.

Location: Beardsley Hall
Synopsis: Public Safety responded to the report of a faculty member that an unknown person kicked in a window frame of the wood shop in Beardsley to gain entrance. Nothing is missing, and things appear in order. Maintenance was notified. Matter under investigation.

Synopsis: The Communications Center received a call for an unconscious student at the Strath Haven Condos. Public Safety and Swarthmore Ambulance responded. The student was transported to the hospital.

Location: Parrish Hall
Synopsis: The Communications Center received an alert from a laptop that was reported stolen. Public Safety responded and located an individual in the center lounge in Parrish Hall. Swarthmore Police Department responded. The individual was arrested. Matter is under investigation.
