Posters meant to remind students about Cable TV in the dorms have been designed by Miyuki Baker ’11 and will soon be placed around campus.
Bike Share Program
Lizzy Bryant ’13, Campus Life Representative, said the Bike Share program would officially start on Monday.
Gazebo on Campus
StuCo maintained that the Gazebo is still very much in the planning stage. A meeting has been scheduled with the Engineering Department to discuss the possible cost of the project.
Linda McDougall, Dining Services Director, has given the go-ahead for StuCo to design a survey to gauge responses from students regarding the selections of bagged lunches during the week.
Instead of relying only on surveys for feedback, StuCo plans to collect student feedback regarding future initiatives by reaching out to those in leadership positions on campus. According to Student Council President Simon Zhu ’11, aggregating the responses of RA’s, SAM’s, sports-team captains, and student-group leaders, amongst others, would enable an “enhanced portrayal of representation.”
Zhu stressed that this would simply be an additional avenue of communication and would not replace surveys for the general student populace.
Long Term Goals
StuCo members voted to focus on two long-term goals: working towards implementing a Laptop Share Program and exploring possibilities for expanding the meal-points system for certain places in the Ville.
StuCo members expressed concern about a possible violation of policy concerning the weekly electronic digest being sent to the student body by the Phoenix.
The Phoenix had approached StuCo and Liz Braun, Dean of Students, for permission to access the emails of the entire student body in order to release an online student digest. However, its proposal was rejected after a survey and a StuCo vote.
StuCo hopes to speak with the Phoenix within the next several weeks.
- StuCo hopes to resolve the confusion arising from a discrepancy between the sign-up times listed online and the timings for the drivers of shuttle to Philly by talking with Public Safety.
- Concerns over the quality of dorm life were also raised, and StuCo indicated this could be addressed in the Leadership Reach-Out program.
