Qub Moving to Danawell Trailer

After spending most of its time in the Kitao Gallery, the student-run cafe Qub is moving to the trailer shared by the Dana and Hallowell dorms.

"We concluded it would be the best for us if we moved there," said Michael Ticehurst '11, the current manager of Qub. "Danawell trailer is a very accessible space and it's also barely used."

The decision was made after discussion with Dean Myrt Westphal, who agreed that Danawell would be a suitable space for the cafe.

Kate Goertzen '09, a member of the Kitao Gallery Board, explained why the decision was made.

"Moving Qub into Kitao, which was built to be a gallery, was initially a good solution because at that time both groups served lower numbers of people. However, the space isn't well-suited for food preparation, and our conflicting schedules now make it hard for either group to share the space without impeding on the efforts of the other."

Now that Qub has moved, it will be open more regularly, though it will maintain the same hours--Thursday and Friday from 9pm to 12:30am. The menu will also undergo a few changes.

"We're trying to broaden the menu this year to include one hot item, at least every Friday," Ticehurst said. "We're also adding a new permanent menu item, which is Thai spring rolls."

This Friday is Qub's first event: free sushi night, starting at 9pm.
