SOFTBALL: Monarchs Trip Up Garnet The Swarthmore softball team opened the 2008 season against the two-time USA South Conference champion Methodist University, dropping both ends of a doubleheader to the Monarchs (12-4) Tuesday afternoon. Freshman Maggie Viscarra drove in two runs while junior Lauren Walker added two hits and scored once.
MEN'S TENNIS: Swarthmore Falls to Division II opponent Sparked by a dominating doubles performance, the Sonoma State men's tennis team rolled to a 9-0 victory over Swarthmore (1-3) on Tuesday at the Seawolf Tennis Courts in Rohnert.
BASEBALL: Garnet Baseball Even for the Day The Swarthmore (3-2) baseball team split this afternoon's double-header with Cazenovia (2-3) winning game one, 11-8, while the Wildcats held off Swarthmore to claim the second game by the score of 12-7 Tuesday at Florida College. Sophomore pitcher Zach Sinemus picked up the win in relief while pitcher Scott Dalane '08 picked up his first save.
WOMEN'S LACROSSE: Rangers Breeze Past Garnet Swarthmore freshman Amy Vachal posted her first collegiate hat trick, scoring a team-high four goals as the Garnet (1-1) fell to Drew University 19-10 Tuesday morning in southern Texas.
