Will the Phoenix Mascot be Unveiled Soon?

According to Kyle White ’08, the mascot integration committee has begun introducing the Phoenix mascot in small doses to the Swarthmore community. Red feathers have begun to appear in various locations on campus including Parrish, Kohlberg, and the Science Center while “Guess Who’s Coming?” signs allude to the arrival of the mythical fire-bird.

Though White cannot give the mascot’s exact arrival date, he explains: “We are attempting a more subtle, elusive start to our introduction of the mascot.” Starting late March, the campus should keep a wary eye out for phoenix sightings, advises White; in the interim, students should be aware of featherings and other signs of the mascot’s presence. “Check your mailbox,” White suggests.
