Weekend Roundup: Skating, Stars, and Reservations

Don't let the cold keep you in this weekend; a little fast-walking is more than worth the trouble to get you to the various venues on campus and in the city. What better way to inaugurate a new semester than by attending a premiere or two?

On Swarthmore's own campus this weekend, Orchestra 2001 will be performing in Lang Concert Hall on Sunday night (at 7:30.) The program, whose titles each allude to lines of poetry, Boulez's "Le marteau sans maitre," Krantz's "Innocence and Experience," and Bunch's "The Golden Apples of the Sun." For another premiere, the Academy of Music's "151st Anniversary Concert" will include a symphonic performance of the Blue Man Group and a world premiere classical piece by Billy Joel.

If you're in the city Saturday night for the premiere, you might also join your fellow Swatties on the ice at Penn's Landing so you can skate under the stars. As a heads up, don’t forget that Monday is the start of restaurant week, meaning now is the time to make your reservations! Whatever you may do this weekend, enjoy and don't study too hard… you'll have plenty of time for that later.
