Research Applications and Development Intern

Internship Focus:

To engage in collaborative research with ETS scientists to address a chosen topic of general interest in the NLP community, exploiting the rich data sources available at ETS (such as students' written or spoken responses to test items).

Responsibilities:

Assemble a set of test responses to be used as an evaluation set for linguistic processing.

Design and conduct experiments to improve the performance of NLP techniques in analyzing student responses, especially those of non-native English speakers.

Summarize the outcomes of this research in a format suitable for publication in a scholarly journal or conference.

Qualifications/Requirements:

Enrollment in graduate program in computer science or linguistics; PhD program preferred. Experience in programming, statistics, and research related to computational linguistics and natural language processing.

(Local candidates with permanent residences in central/southern New Jersey and/or southeastern Pennsylvania are preferred, since no living stipends can be offered.)
