Golf at Glenmaura National Collegiate Invitational

MEN’S TENNIS: Top Doubles Pair Collect Win, Garnet Fall to #15 Blue Jays
Despite a hard fought battle, the Garnet men’s tennis team fell 7-2 to the Johns Hopkins University Blue Jays, the first-pace team in the Centennial Conference and ranked #15 nationally. Senior Jonathan Lo and junior Kevin Shaughnessy battled for a win at No. 1 doubles over the #5-ranked pair in the region and junior Mark Greenburg scored a 6-4, 6-4 win at No. 5 singles.

GOLF: Lazarus Sets School Record
Garnet sophomore Jeffrey Lazarus set a new standard in Swarthmore golf during the first round of the Glenmaura National Collegiate Invitational, posting a one-under 70 at the Glenmaura National Golf Club Sunday afternoon. He broke the school record, previously held by Eric Zwick ’07 and Matt Kaufman ’02.

MEN’S BASKETBALL: McCormick Named Academic Performer of the Year
Senior center Ian McCormick picked up another honor Sunday morning, having been named Philadelphia Inquirer Academic Performer of the for men’s basketball by the Philadelphia-area Sports Information Directors Association (Philly-SIDA).

SWIMMING: Five Garnet Swimmers Selected Academic All-Stars
The Philadelphia Inquirer released its 2007-08 Academic All-Stars in the Sunday edition and Swarthmore was well-represented.
