The Student Budget Committee is hiring for the 2007-2008 academic year!
Working for SBC provides an opportunity to have considerable impact on your fellow students and features excellent working conditions and pay. These positions are not "clock-in, clock-out" jobs and require that the individuals hired manage their own time while still fulfilling the job requirements. Many positions involve some responsibility over other students. The positions pay at the top wage rate.

Job Descriptions:
SBC Assistant Managers (~6 hours/week, one semester term, three positions available) Assistant Managers aid in the administration and regulation of the Student Activities Account by attending SBC office hours, filing, recording, and helping people access funds that have been allocated. Job provides excellent training in office management and experience. Will also oversee SBC development projects at the direction of the Manager, including working with various campus groups and administrators. Potential for advancement to Manager. Student Activities Van and Morning Shuttle Coordinator (~7 hours/week, one year term) Organize and schedule drivers for the Morning Shuttle and weekly Activities Vans to Marple, Target, etc. Must maintain the van logs and time slips as necessary, and generally assume responsibility for the safe, timely, and reliable running of this service. In addition must insure maintenance on vans is carried out. Any time spent driving is paid in addition to these responsibilities. No experience required, but van certification is a plus. Student Council Van Coordinator (~10 hours/week, one year term) Coordinate and regulate allocation of SC Vans to groups and individuals requesting their use. The SC Van Coordinator is in charge of both the scheduling and billing of those that wish to use the vans, as well as organizing the Airport Shuttle for each break. Any time spent driving the airport shuttle is paid in addition to these responsibilities. No experience required, but van certification is a plus. For more information, contact Armando Leon.
Halcyon Co-Editors (~5 hours/week for each Editor, one year term)
Managing Editor: Coordinates general and editorial board meetings; coordinates the hiring and training of staff members; communicates the decisions of the board to the general staff; organizes the distribution of the yearbooks; and lays out one major section of the yearbook with the help of staff. Creative Editor: Creates and assures the maintenance of a coherent creative vision for the current book and communicates that vision to all staff members; establishes a theme(s), ladder and cover design; establishes and oversees a basic schedule of deadlines; and lays out one major section of the yearbook with the help of staff. Photo Editor: Coordinates senior portraits and hall photos; solicits student and student group photographs; collects photos from other campus organizations including the Publications Office, LPAC and the Scott Arboretum; works with photography staff to take additional photographs as necessary; and lays out one major section of the yearbook with the help of staff. Business Editor: Serves as treasurer and manages the Halcyon's finances including staff time-slips; coordinates fund-raising activities including senior boosters, solicits senior collages; and lays out all ads, boosters, and collage sections with the help of staff. Halcyon Executive Editor (~ 4 hours/week, one year term) Leads, advises and where necessary trains the editorial board which consists of the Managing, Business, Creative, and Photo Editors; Acts as the liaison between the Halcyon and SBC; Delegates the tasks necessary in order to ensure the timely completion of a high quality publication, and helps to ensure the success of future boards through documentation and training. (Does very minimal layouts- or more depending on the editor's preferences). Experience necessary. For more information, contact Sung Choi.
Olde Club Booking Director (~7 hours/week, one year term) Beginning in the summer, oversee and coordinate the booking of musical acts in Olde Club and subsequent paperwork during the year (including advertising and publicity). Insure that funding is spent in accordance with SBC, College, and legal statues. Oversee a support staff to maintain all live-show, student sound equipment. On nights of shows, provide hospitality for musical acts. Work with other members of the Olde Club staff to keep the space fit for student use. For more information, contact Madalyn Baldanzi.
Movie Committee Coordinator (~6 hours/week, one year term) Organize, coordinate, and advertise weekly movie screenings. Hire and coordinate projectionists for weekly movie screenings. Facilitate the process of obtaining movie licenses, including obtaining quotes and ensuring that showings are compliant with legal statues. For more information, contact Meredith Firetog.
Forum for Free Speech Coordinator (~6 hours/week, one year term) A non-voting member, the FFS coordinator serves as the formal liaison of the committee. As both the chair and treasurer, he or she is responsible for maintaining communications between the SBC, FFS, campus administrators, and all proposing groups. Crafts committee agendas, manages weekly meetings, moderates proposal interviews, compiles formal minutes, archives proposals, brokers honoraria/funding transfers, and provides the committee with weekly budget updates. Additionally, the FFS coordinator is responsible for assembling the FFS' proposal for SBC Spring Budgeting. For more information, contact Jason Lissy.
SBC Webmaster (~ 5 hours/week, one year term) Maintain the existing Student Budget Committee websites and the Class Recommendation Book. Update and edit the SBC websites. Work with individual student groups on developing websites. Aid in the process of training student webmasters. For more information, contact Armando Leon.
SBC Manager (~20 hours/week, one year term) The SBC Manager oversees the use of all SAA funds. This includes attending all SBC office hours, overseeing a support staff of ten students, insuring that all transactions comply with legal requirements, attending all SBC meetings, and organizing Spring Budgeting. The Manager maintains accounts for all student organizations and provides SBC with information necessary to make decisions. Experience required. For more information, contact Giannina Esquivel.
