Weekend Roundup: Museums and Music
Swarthmore's self-titled "Queen of Fun", Assistant Student Activities Coordinator Paury Flowers, has encouraged students via e-mail to travel into Philadelphia. The Campus Philly Kick-off will feature live music, art, and more. In addition, many museums will be offering free admission all day for College Day on the Parkway. In other events, the Philadelphia Orchestra will be performing Stravinsky's Rite of Spring on Friday. Saturday evening will see a performance of works by Brahms. If you're a freshman and have yet to make it off campus, this is the time.
Weekend Events
Campus Philly Kick-off College Day on the Parkway Philadelphia Orchestra Simone DinnersteinBut you don't have to head off campus this weekend if you're looking for classical music. Friday at 8:00, Simone Dinnerstein will be performing Bach's masterful "Goldberg Variations" in Lang Concert Hall. Dinnerstein has recently gained an international reputation as a pianist, so be sure to show up early to get a seat. Another performance to look forward to are the Hildegard Chamber Players at 3:00 in Lang Concert Hall. The chamber music performed will focus on the works of female composers.
As always, the Daily Gazette wishes you a relaxing and enjoyable weekend.

Unfortunately the Saturday Brahms concert at the Philadelphia Orchestra is their opening night gala, so no student tickets are available, only full price tickets which are very pricey. But the Friday concert is affordable, and there is of course the Simone Dinnerstein concert Friday night in Lang!
