Debate Results
For the past month, the Amos J. Peaslee Debate Society competed at the tournaments hosted by Bryn Mawr College (February 9-10), U.S. Military Academy at West Point (March 2-3), University of Maryland, Baltimore County (March 9-10), and Brandeis University (March 16-17). Following are the tournament results:
At Bryn Mawr, the team of Chris Ford '07 and Marissa Maleck of Amherst College finished as the 4th team overall. Trude Raizen '08 and Miles Skorpen '09 were the 8th place team overall. Individually, Ford was the 3rd place speaker and Raizen was the 7th.
In the novice division, the team of Chris Sawyer '10 and Cyrus Stoller '10 finished as the 3rd team. Adam Dalva '08 and his teammate from Columbia were the 4th place team. Nate Erskine'10 and Anson Stewart '10 were the 5th place team. Individually, Sawyer won the 6th place novice speaker and Stoller won the 9th.
At West Point, Ford and Julie Baker won the 4th team overall. Baker was the 3rd place speaker.
Two of Swarthmore's novices, Stewart and Matt Tilghman '09, were the 2nd place novice team at the tournament.
At Brandeis, Ford and Baker finished as the 4th place team overall.
At UMBC, the team of Baker and Ben Warren '08 was the 8th place team overall. Individually, Baker was the 2nd place speaker overall.
