News from Bryn Mawr and Haverford

The Daily Gazette has just begun a news-sharing partnership with the Bryn Mawr and Haverford weekly newspaper, The BiCo News. Each week, we'll bring you some of the biggest stories from the other side of the Tri-College Consortium.

Lunt Café Theft

Haverford' student-run cafe, Lunt Café, was shut down for three days after an unknown person stole $3000 from a lockbox behind the counter over Thanksgiving break. The money represents about a month's worth of revenues, said the cafe's financial manager, Milla Sanes '10. The back door into the cafe was not locked over break, and an additional $50 was taken from the cash register.

Strangers on Campus

Both Haverford and Bryn Mawr have had their open campus philosophies tested in recent weeks by the presence of unknown individuals, one nicknamed "Treebeard" by Haverford students, sleeping on campus. At Haverford, three different individuals have been reported sleeping on campus—in common rooms, in the library, and in basements. At Bryn Mawr, an unknown male was found sleeping in a dorm. As he was being escorted out by Public Safety, he fled. Police and Public Safety officers failed to apprehend him.
