WOMEN'S BASKETBALL: Blue Jays Fly Away With Win

SWARTHMORE, Pa. -- Swarthmore (1-2) fell to Elizabethtown (2-1) 84-51 in a women's basketball non-conference game; Garnet first-year forward Kathryn Stockbower recorded her second career double-double Tuesday night in Tarble Pavilion.

MEN'S BASKETBALL: Knights Steal Game From Garnet

GLENSIDE, Pa. - The Swarthmore men's basketball team suffered a heart-breaking loss at the hand of hometown Arcadia Tuesday evening. The Knights opened up their 2007-08 season with an 87-84 overtime victory over the Garnet (2-1) in non-conference action. Senior Ian McCormick scored a career-high 36 points to go long with 12 rebounds while classmate Matt Kurman added 17 points and six assists.

SWIMMING: Garnet Sail Past Bears

SWARTHMORE, Pa. - Swarthmore swimming convincingly swept away Ursinus Tuesday night at Ware Pool in Centennial Conference action. The women's team won 144-97, while the men's squad triumphed 125-86. Sophomore Anne Miller set a pool record while winning three events while Melinda Neal '11, Julia Wrobel '10, Chelsea Bret '11, Santiago Lombo and Douglas Gilchrist-Scott '09 were double-winners.
