MEN'S BASKETBALL: Garnet Big Men Fuel Season Opening Win

SWARTHMORE, Pa. - The Swarthmore and Southwestern (TX) men's basketball teams picked up season-opening victories at the 16th annual Equinox Classic co-hosted by Swarthmore and Haverford Colleges. The Pirates (1-0) squeaked out a 61-58 win over Haverford (0-1) in the first game while the Garnet (1-0) won easily, 81-62, over Oberlin (0-1) in Tarble Pavilion Friday night on the campus of Swarthmore College. Swarthmore post men Ian McCormick '08 and Raul Ordonez '09 combined for 34 points and 22 rebounds as the Garnet shot 61.3% in the second half to race past the Yeomen.
