MEN'S SOCCER: Merry Christmas, Garnet Advance to ECAC Championship

SWARTHMORE, Pa. - Senior captain Pat Christmas put the top-seeded Garnet men's soccer into the championship match of the 2007 ECAC Division III Southern Region Tournament by scoring the lone goal in a 1-0 Swarthmore win over Westminster Saturday afternoon at gloomy Clothier Field.

Swarthmore (13-3-3) will face the No.8-seed,Frostburg State, who upset Penn State-Altoona in the other semifinal, 2-1 in overtime. The championship match is set for 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 11.

WOMEN'S SOCCER: Kelsey Doubles Down, Garnet Advance To ECAC Championship

GROVE CITY, Pa. -Freshman forward Kelsey Cline scored two goals and classmate Sarah Reece added another as the Swarthmore women's soccer team defeated Frostburg State 3-0 in semifinal action of the ECAC Division III Southern Region Saturday afternoon in western Pennsylvania.

The Garnet (14-2-2) advance into the championship match on Sunday, Nov. 11 at Grove City. Swarthmore will face Catholic (12-3-4), winners 1-0 over host Grove City, at 2:00 p.m. in a re-match of the season opener for both teams. The Garnet downed Catholic in the first match of the Swat Kick Classic on Sept.1-- Swarthmore won 1-0 via Cline's first career goal.

SWIMMING: Miller Sets New Record as Women Take Down Diplomats

LANCASTER, Pa. - Anne Miller '10 continues to re-write the Swarthmore record books, picking up three individual wins while setting another school record, leading the Garnet women to a 114-91 win over Centennial rival Franklin & Marshall Saturday afternoon. The Swarthmore men were not as fortunate, falling 129-76 at the hands of the Diplomats.

CROSS COUNTRY: Cross Country Finishes Season at Regional Championships

BETHLEHEM, Pa. -- Swarthmore's cross country teams made strong showings in the NCAA Division III Mid-East Regional hosted by Muhlenberg College Saturday afternoon to culminate the 2007 season. The women finished in 6th with 53 points, while the men placed in 8th with 326 points. Sophomore Nyika Corbett earned All Mid-East Region for the second straight year while first-year runners Caitlin Russell (first team) and Patrick Hartnett (second team) were selected for the All Mid-East Freshmen team.
