The changes to Reserved Students Digest continue to be a point of discussion at Student Council meetings–today, a student came to explain that “I like opt-out systems, rather than opt-in systems” and she would appreciate Student Council looking into making the new calendar something that everyone gets in their inbox once a day (you do in at least one form–the Daily Gazette).
Website troubles delayed the start of the appointments process until this week. The process will be the same as usual, with two new committees–a sustainability committee with positions for at least two and possibly as many as four students. This committee is specifically looking for students both with and without backgrounds in environmental activism.
The ethical purchasing committee will be getting off the ground as a pilot committee with five students in addition to faculty and staff during this round of appointments. Since a large function of the committee will be to critique ethical purchasing proposals, it’s thought that students on the pilot form of the committee should have some experience with being on administrative committees, and Student Council hopes to appoint from within current committee members for the pilot round. There will be a discussion on Monday the 19th to talk about the committee.
Interested in serving on a committee? Come to Parrish Parlors on November the 13th at 9 PM in order to talk with students currently on committees and on Student Council. There will be donuts, coffee, and tea for us decaffinated types.
Council is also getting excited for a discussion about the College Budget on Tuesday the 6th at 7 PM with Al Bloom and Treasurer Suzanne Welsh–come and learn how the college uses its money. Can’t make it? At least make sure to read about it in the Gazette after the fact.
