SWIMMING: Garnet Women Romp at Widener

CHESTER, Pa. — The Swarthmore swim teams opened up the 2007-08 season with a non-conference meet at local rival Widener Thursday evening. The Garnet women cruised to a 132.5-68.6 victory while the Swarthmore men lost a tight battle, 109-96. Swarthmore All-American Anne Miller ’10 won three events and broke her own record in the 1000 freestyle while Stephen Shymon ’09 and Sterling Satterfield had two wins apiece for the men.

MEN’S SOCCER: Four Garnet Named All-Centennial

LANCASTER, Pa. — The Swarthmore men’s soccer team had four members selected to the 2007 All-Centennial Conference team, as announced by the Conference office on Thursday. Seniors Pat Christmas and Ryan Sutcliffe and juniors Jeff Kushner and Ladulé Lako Lo Sarah were named to the second team following a vote by the conference’s head coaches.

Sutcliffe Named Academic All-District

SWARTHMORE, Pa. — Swarthmore senior Ryan Sutcliffe was selected to the ESPN the Magazine Academic All-District II men’s soccer team by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). Sutcliffe, a goaltender, was selected to the first team and will be placed on the national ballot.

WOMEN’S SOCCER: Mullarkey Named Academic All-District

SWARTHMORE, Pa. — Swarthmore junior Cait Mullarkey was selected to the ESPN the Magazine Academic All-District II women’s soccer team, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America. Mullarkey, a defender, was selected to the third team.
