Weekend Roundup: Ratatouille, Dactyls, and other Exotic Birds

This weekend is packed with events as Swarthmore students look longingly at the other side of (certain) midterms and anticipate fall break. The annual Dactyl Hunt will take place on Friday, with unusual creatures hiding in some well-labeled bushes near you. Dancers have a fun weekend in store: in addition to a contra dance on Saturday, Latino heritage month will present three folk dancing groups on Friday at 7:00 in LPAC. If dancing sounds like too much for you, two movies, Ratatouille and Taste of Cherry, will be shown this weekend. Other events include a dumpling party with the Friends of Taiwan on Saturday and a gardening presentation from the Scott Arboretum on Sunday.

The new List Gallery exhibit and Cooper event featuring the work of John Dubrow has been installed. Friday and Saturday at 8:00pm in the Frear Ensemble Theatre Rachel Sugar '08 will present Mad Girl's Love Song. Orchestra 2001 will be performing in Lang Concert Hall on Sunday, featuring, as always, unusual and new compositions in the western classical idiom.

If you would rather go see the Philadelphia Orchestra, a concert featuring the works of Berlioz, Britten, and Debussy will take place at 2:00pm on Friday and 8:00pm on Saturday at the Kimmel Center. Also off campus this weekend is the world's largest Coming Out Day celebration on Sunday in Philly. Shuttles will run from Parrish circle at noon, 2:00pm, and 3:30pm.
