Student Council report

From this week forward, the Daily Gazette will be providing a brief summary of the events at the Student Council meeting as a service to our readers. We hope that this summary will keep students informed about the work Student Council is doing and that it will keep Student Council open and accountable to the students it represents.

At this week's Student Council meeting, the council discussed the upcoming Vice-Presidential election. Declarations for the position are due Monday, February 5th. Platforms will appear in the Daily Gazette on Tuesday, February 6th, and a Vice-Presidential Candidate 'Fireside Forum' will be held that night at 9 PM in the Scheuer Room. Sharples voting will take place Monday February 12th and Tuesday February 13th.

Also discussed were methods by which to increase Council's transparency. Proposals included a monthly newsletter summarizing the organization's activities, a link to each week's minutes sent in an e-mail, and a summary of each meeting in the following day's edition of the Daily Gazette.
