The New Pornographers announced as fall's Large Scale Event

Canadian indie-rockers The New Pornographers will be this semester's Large-Scale Event, according to LSE Committee Chairman Douglas Gilchrist-Scott '09. The event will be held on November 10th in LPAC.

Gilchrist-Scott explained that "The New Pornographers were chosen following our survey conducted last spring. The survey showed that the Swarthmore population overwhelmingly desired to have an indie rock band come." While no other acts have been booked as of yet, Gilchrist-Scott assured the Daily Gazette that there will be another LSE come springtime.

October 30th, 1929- The Day a Cow Entered Parrish

In the wake of Halloween, I think it’s appropriate to celebrate the 80th anniversary of one of the more wonderful pranks ever pulled at Swarthmore: the Cow Episode. On December 4, 1929, the editor of the Phoenix received a letter from the owner of Crumwald, a nearby farm with some loose connections to the college.
