Students run the McCabe Mile

Yesterday, as per tradition since 1959, Swarthmore's own McCabe library played host to The McCabe Mile, a mile-long race around the basement. It is rumored that the race was originally concieved to celebrate the library's new carpet, one that had an excellent texture for running. The race's main participants were the members of the cross-country team, though anyone was welcome to participate.

The organizer for this year's mile was Jones Nauseef '06. "It's the best way to have fun in athletics," he said. This year's winner was Elise Garrity '09 for the women and Mickey Katz '08 for the men. The prize was a roll of Scott tissue, to celebrate the benfector of the Scott arboritum.
