Wanda Sykes confirmed as spring LSE

Comedian Wanda Sykes will headline the 2007 Spring Large Scale Event (LSE), which will be held on Saturday, March 3 in LPAC.

According to LSE Committee Chairman Douglas Gilchrist-Scott '09, Sykes is an "internationally acclaimed actor and comedian who has starred in numerous films in television specials". Gilchrist-Scott described Sykes as "a great fit for Swarthmore", saying that she is "skilled at making observations on the current political and social climate."

Sykes will be the first comedian to perform at the LSE since Mitch Hedberg came to Swarthmore in May of 2004. Since then, four musical acts have performed. The choice of a comedian, explained Gilchrist-Scott, was caused by the results of the student survey that was taken last spring.

According to Sykes's official website, www.wandasykes.com, the performer will be coming to Swarthmore after a show in Boston on Friday the 3rd. Sykes will be performing weekend shows throughout the month of March.

Information on how to obtain tickets to the LSE will be sent to students during the spring semester.
