Appointments chair to be filled in upcoming election
Student Council will be holding an emergency election next week to fill the position of Appointments Chair after "None of the Above" won last semester, beating Ethan Ucker '07 332-315.
Because numerous committees still need appointments--especially the Student Budget Committee, which has four open seats--Student Council is working quickly to fill the position. However, rather than going through the process of appointing an ad-hoc committee in the meantime, they decided they'd be better off by having a speedy election.
When asked about the outcome of the previous election, Student Council President Saeed Ola '07 replied, "I think it is hard to determine the meaning of this specific result of the election." He acknowledged that he didn't know of any other elections where "None of the Above" beat out all other candidates.
For students interested in running for appointments chair, platforms are due by noon this Tuesday. Online voting will begin the following Tuesday, January 31, followed by Sharples voting that Thursday and Friday.
