Recently discovered athlete breaks Swat records

S. Will Capewearer ’06 broke the Swarthmore records for the 100 and 200 meter dash yesterday at the Eat-a-ford Invitational. His sprints cut more than two seconds off of the school records. It was easy to see that Capewearer was the winner in these two races… not because of his Garnet outfit, but because of his signature ML Dungeons and Dragons cape.

Capewearer is not your average athlete. He was never recruited, never played a sport in his life, and never went to the gym in his two and a half years at Swat. But he may have the best training of all… living in Mary Lyon! Capewearer, who checked off “enjoys sci fi” on his freshman housing questionnaire, is living in ML for the third time this year. He, like other ML residents, gets lots of exercise simply walking to campus every day.

In addition, instead complaining about having to dash across the “Crossing of Death” (also known as the intersection of Harvard and Yale), Capewearer has challenged himself for years to run across the street as fast as he can, and it has paid off. Capewearer and the rest of the track team will return to action next weekend at Hopkins, but in the mean time, Capewearer will continue to practice crossing the street instead of joining his teammates on the track.
